Privacy Policy — Venit: AI Alt Text

Venit: AI Alt Text is a Shopify app that analyzes product images and product information to identify and improve image alt text.

Information received from Shopify

Depending on how the app is used, Shopify may provide:

• Shop or store identifiers.
• Product titles and product metadata needed for alt-text generation.
• Product image URLs or images and existing image alt text.
• Product update information needed for monitoring.
• App installation and subscription information required to operate the app.

Information supplied by merchants

Merchants may provide:

• Alt-text generation preferences and settings.
• Terminology or additional guidance entered in Settings.
• A notification email address.
• Actions taken within the app that are needed for history, undo, and app operation.

How information is used

Venit uses product and image information to evaluate existing alt text, monitor relevant product changes, and generate proposed alt text. Relevant product and image context and the merchant’s generation preferences may be sent to OpenAI to generate proposed alt text.

Application data is stored only as necessary to provide app functionality, including monitoring, history, billing and credit state, and notification preferences. Venit does not sell merchant or customer data. The app is not intended to collect payment-card information.

Service providers

Venit uses the following providers to operate its functionality:

• Shopify, which provides the Shopify platform and app data.
• OpenAI, which processes relevant context to generate proposed alt text.
• Resend, which delivers configured merchant notification emails.
• Render, which hosts the application and database infrastructure.

Retention and deletion

Venit keeps application data only while it is needed for the purposes described in this policy. When a shop uninstalls the app, operational data such as sessions, catalog and monitoring state, preferences, notifications, email delivery records, history, proposals, and queued work is deleted. A minimal shop lifecycle record remains to prevent stale work from restarting. Billing and credit ledger records may remain where needed for legitimate accounting, billing, fraud-prevention, or legal purposes. Shopify shop-redaction requests repeat the applicable cleanup and mark the lifecycle record as redacted.

Shopify privacy requests

Venit supports Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks for required data access and deletion requests. This app does not store customer, order, or customer-linked records; customer data-request and customer-redaction notifications are therefore completed as no-ops, while shop redaction triggers the applicable cleanup described above.
